Past Pupils - Graphic Design Communication

Olwyn Hanley

Graphic Design Communication Student
Leaving Cert 2014
Graduation Year 2018

I initially took on my first year in the Limerick School of Art and Design, under LIT, as a general Art and Design student with the hopes of pursuing Fashion Design. Going into this college was a big risk and many people didn’t agree with my career choice. It wasn’t long before I fell in love with the Graphic Design department there and considered a change in avenue. It was important to me to be employable after college and this course had high job opportunities with a more positive work environment.

Graphic Design Communication is a very well known course worldwide as L.S.A.D. produces creative and talented designers that are very successful in their fields. The course covers a range of modules that keeps a career path broad with work in Advertising, Packaging Design, Typographic Design, Illustration, Television Graphics, Animation and Web Design.

If I could give any student advice now, I would say to pursue a course you have a passion for, regardless of what others say. I am so happy that I found Graphic Design because I know now Fashion wouldn’t have been for me.
There is nothing wrong with being creative and using it to your advantage, there is an area of work for everybody, sometimes you just have to work a little harder to find yours.
