A group of 10 First Year students participated in the JCSP Make A Book exhibition held in the Oriel House Hotel, Ballincollig on Tuesday, the 14th of March.
The students created a book highlighting the plight of Syrian refugees that are fleeing the Civil war. In conjunction with this they decided to hold a Bagathon on the 28th of February to raise funds for Syrian refugees. This was very successful and €855 was raised. This money was donated to Anne O’Rourke, an Irish woman working to help Syrian women in Turkey who have been forced to flee with their children.
Anne has sent the students on a message of thanks and also highlighted where the money will be used to help the refugees in Turkey.
The students travelled to Cork to exhibit their book and had an opportunity to outline the work they carried out to other schools attending on the day.
Well done to Mary Rose Blake, Mark Cronin, Emma Harrington, Ewan Harrington, Oisín Hurley, Gavin O’Sullivan, Shane Power, David Sheehan, Tiernan Sullivan and Holly Tietjen for all their hard work.
The following short video was made by Anne O’Rourke to thank the JCSP students for the money they raised from the Bagathon.
